International shipping of items containing lithium-ion batteries

Items containing lithium-ion batteries can be divided into three categories.

Items that cannot be shipped: Lithium units only, lithium-ion batteries themselves. Examples: mobile batteries, wireless earphones with charging cases, replacement batteries, e-cigarettes.

Delivery is not possible using any of Japan Post's shipping methods (EMS, AIR, SAL, or surface mail).

Items that can be shipped: Lithium-containing devices (devices with built-in lithium-ion batteries, e.g., laptops, iPhones)

Lithium -ion batteries are attached to devices. Example: Digital camera

Please note that if you receive a package containing only lithium, it will either be disposed of at the warehouse or on-site, or delivered to your address within Japan.
